Claire Cunningham, in association with Jess Curtis/Gravity presents:
ME (Mobile/Evolution)
For the first time Cunningham's two solo works, Evolution and Mobile are combined in this double bill for an 11 night run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Part of the prestigious Made in Scotland Expo program showcasing Scotland's top artists and companies at the Fringe, and part of Dance Base aerial program at Out of the Blue Drill Hall.
A double bill of humourous stories; about doctors and dancing, bikes and ballet, all threaded together and balanced upon, hanging from, spinning on and swinging on crutches.
Any possible sentimentality of 'a wee girl on crutches' is undercut with a healthy dose of Scottish sarcasm. Audiences have been surprised and entertained, as well as provoked into questioning their ideas of aesthetics and dance.
'Feisty, innovative, radical and witty [...] strong, visionary work [...] hugely, generously entertaining [...] full of joy, optimism and sassy spirit.' The Herald, 18th Aug 2009.
